My wife and I wanted to go to Corsica, but now seem more interested in Sardinia. this is a September trip for 7-10 days. seems like a big island, does anyone have any recommendations on which towns to be near, we love beautiful beaches, roaming around towns, and great seafood. hiking and biiking as well. Also you have any insight on why Corsica is better we would love to know what you think? Is one more expensive? is the food better on one? Are the towns more interesting on one more than the other. etc.
thanks

Hi Andrew and Marcy -
The thread here:
https://community.ricksteves.com/travel-forum/italy/sardenia-i-m-looking-into-travel-there
contains a trip report for our recent trip to Sardinia, which only covered a small part of the island (but which might be partially helpful).
Corsica was quite a while ago. We dismally failed the GR20 (‘Europe’s Toughest Hike’) because of the crippling heat - a week previously other folk had been forced off by poor weather - but were more successful going west to east across the island using the Mare a Monte/Mare a Mare paths, staying at gites and refuges/hostels. We hotelled in Corte, hostelled in Calvi and camped in Ile Rousse. Because we traversed the island in the northern section, our experience wasn’t, like Sardinia, comprehensive.
Hope this helps. If you think I might be able to add more or have any other info that might help, please feel free to ask, either here or by PM.
For what it’s worth I very much enjoyed both islands and from my perspective, they are similar in terrain etc.
