Sardinia: need help with picking 2 bases

My family (my husband and I are taking our 2 young adult children and their SO's) to Sardinia in June. Looking to pick 2 bases so that we can more easily explore those regions without driving hours each day. Probably will spend 3 or 4 days in each place and will be renting a house/airbnb, as well as a car.
We are interested in beautiful beaches, good food, a bit of history/archaeology. Perhaps a place to rent a stand up paddleboard or kayak.
Would welcome suggestions on 2 places to base ourselves.
Thanks in advance.

Santa Teresa Or surroundings (e.g. Capo Testa) is a good base for a boat excursion to the Maddalena Archipelago and also for a day trip to Bonifacio in Corsica. The pretty town of Castelsardo is also about an hour away. For Stintino and Asinara you might need a couple of hours.
Bosa and Tempio Pausania are also famous towns you could visit from Santa Teresa, albeit Bosa is kind of a long drive.

Some of the best beaches are probably on the eastern coast, between Baunei and Cala Gonone, but you need a boat to see those.

Be aware that the beaches North are pretty rough compared to the South.Suggest you look at Algerho in the North with plenty of "happening" night life and for a change, look at Castiadas, Sardegna in the south for the beaches. We rented a Villa there last year with pool for 7 in June and was near beaches, tratorias, and so forth. You'd best start looking now as the later it gets in June, the rentals will be a minimum of 7 days. Take "industrial strength" sun screen" as it can be blistering hot by June in the south.
