Sardinia itinerary review--Orosei area

After pining for Sardinia for years, I finally have a trip planned (next month!). Just looking for some big picture feedback before I cement our accommodations--thanks for any input!
We (a couple) have 10 days, in/out Olbia with rental car.
I am set on about half in Cala Gonone (CG), as we love the sea and want to hike in this area along with visiting various archaeological sites.
I'd like to include a couple nights (at least) in Nuoro. The part I am stuck on is whether to keep it to those two, OR add another stay in a village further south in between (like the looks of Baunei, which would also put us closer to hikes and beaches on southern end of the bay), OR, after CG and Nuoro, make the last stop somewhere closer to Olbia (Azrachena area seems our speed). If I keep it at Nuoro, a one-hour straight highway drive to Olbia airport seems okay with a noon departure (even for non morning people), but I welcome feedback on that plan.

It may be too far for you, but if you're wondering about two days/nights, take a look at the west coast, especially Bosa and the archaeological sites of Tharros by San Giovanni in Sinis.

There is a beautiful hike down the middle of the Sinis penisula that ends in the lighthouse.

Plus on the west coast you will get to see some fantastic sunsets.

I am glad you getting to make your trip to Sardinia. We went for the first time last year and are going back for 3 weeks next month.
Last year we had lunch at a "home" restaurant outside of Nuoro with a group who lived near Cagliari. They were very passionate about the Orosei Pennisula and its beaches saying they are the most beautiful in Sardinia. We did not make it to the Orosei last year but are going there this year and staying in Galtelli about 15 minutes from the beaches. Galtelli is a very small and historic town and from all I can tell it has kept its charm, but I cannot say for sure until we have gone there. After Galtelli, we are taking my husband's uncle who is with us for our first 10 days to the Olbia Airport for a noon flight. The airport looks to be an easy hour's drive from Galtelli.

Also we enjoyed Nuoro last year on our trip and are returning for 4 nights this year.

Thank you both--with a busy travel partner (leaves a lot of the planning up to me but he drives so it's a fair deal) it helps to bounce these off ideas off others. This helps confirm my plan and also gives me ideas for future trips!

I, too, have Sardinia on my wish list. I have nothing to add, unfortunately, but wish you a wonderful trip and do hope you will return to share your experiences!
