Sardinia in 10 days - September 2017

Does it make sense for a 10 day trip in Sardinia before Venice, to visit San Teodoro, Olbia (for La Maddalena archipelago) then Alghero? If so, are there suggestions on best ways to accomplish this for travel in between these areas?

Oh no sorry, in September! Thinking of flying out of Seattle, WA to Sardinia around September 5th, 2017.

I posted this a few weeks ago. Don't know if you've seen it.

I was in Sardinia last fall and loved it. I took the one hour flight from Rome to Cagliari on Alitalia and picked up a car at the airport - where it was less expensive to rent than at the in town office. I would not waste time on a long ferry ride. If possible, I'd try to add a day or two but you can get a good taste of the island in 5 days. Spent first two nights at an agriturismo in Castiadas before heading to Orosei. From there I went north to Olbia and then to Santa Maria Gallura where I took the ferry to Corsica. After returning, I drove to Alghero stopping in Castelsardo and Sassari along the way. Then to Oristano and back to Càgliari. The scenery is magnificent and the beaches are awesome. There are lots of hills and twisting narrow roads. If I had five days, I would have flown into Olbia and then driven anti clockwise flying back from Càgliari skipping the less interesting south east coast.
From Olbia, you can take the ferry to La Maddalena National Park. There aren't any major museums to visit but there are some archeological sites near Arzechena (the Nuraghe) that are interesting. Naturally there are some beautiful churches to visit. Boat trips abound at various places on the island. Definitely take the boat to the Grotto di Nettuno in Alghero. Alghero also has a small but worthwhile Diocesan Museum and a nice Cathedral. Further down the coast are the ruins of Tharros and the remarkable ancient site of Su Nuraxi in Barumini. Ditch the car at the airport and take the train into Càgliari where you should spend a full day walking around. I stayed at the Hotel Flora, a short walk from the station and highly recommend it. A few doors away is Sa Domu Sarda where I had typical and special Sardinian food - the best meal I had on my trip. Don't hesitate to PM me if you have any questions.
