Sardinia hospital quality - pregnant traveler

Hi,

I am traveling to Italy and we would really like to spend a few nights in Sardinia. I'll be 23 weeks pregnant at the time. In the unlikely event that I have a pregnancy related medical emergency (early birth, etc), it's important to have a very good hospital near by. I was wondering how good the hospitals are in Sardinia and how good the prenatal care / NICU units are.

Would love any guidance.

Thanks!

I hope you get an answer from someone on this forum. I hope you have permission from your OB doc?

As of now, I am cleared to travel and pregnancy is progressing normally. Still want to be ready in case something happens when we travel.

You might ask you doctors for recommendations. Many years ago I had had a serious eye problem with a small possibility of an unexpected recurrence. But if it did, then I needed treatment literally within the hour. The eye surgeon provided me with a list of eye doctors, including phone numbers, for every city on our schedule. Never need it but it was comforting to know such a list existed.

Maternal care in Italy in general is excellent. If you Google search with the terms "asl sardegna sanitari materno" you'll get the websites of facilities in specific Sardinian cities. The Italian US Embassy website maintains a listing of English speaking doctors around the country. Presumably one of those doctors could help you get appropriate assistance.
