Is there something uniquely great about Sardinia that makes it worth a visit?
For years I wanted to visit Sardinia - to taste the cuisine and visit the famous blue zone, and soak in the unique ambiance of the place, and hear the language closest to ancient latin. However, its a hassle to get there, and the cities look pretty unremarkable compared to most of the rest of Italy. The beaches are nice, but there are nice beaches other places too. So in the past, I have elected to go to Sicily or Malta instead. Sicily has such a wealth of history, culture, and food, that it seems to outshine Sardinia by a long shot.
