I am planning a 5-6 day - day hiking trip for 5 people. We’d like to stay in a lodging that is accessible to many trails in the mountainous areas. We can rent a car to reach this lodging. I’m looking for suggestions on where we should go and where to stay. We are all experienced at backpacking in the US.

I have not made it to Sardinia yet, but it is high on my list. I just came to suggest the excellent Cicerone books, as that will give you info on many trails and you can pick a base accordingly.
If you Google “Trekking Sardegna” you will find plenty of resources online from specialized websites.
