Sardinia

Any input on the "Sagra Di Sant'efisio" festival in Sardinia"? We were in the midst of planning a trip to Sicily and checking festivals when my husband came across this one in Sardinia... granted it looks wonderful. We haven't been to either island, which would you recommend? We have been to Italy many times never renting
a car but understand on the island we should. The festival is in Cagliari Sardinia. Thanks for any thoughts, Jo

Boy, picking which of these islands to see is tough. We have been to Sicily 4 times because we really enjoy the people, the ruins, Palermo, Cefalu, Taromina, the Villa Armenia, Segesta, Erice, and on and on. That being said, we did our first trip to Sardinia 2 years'' ago and we fell in love- it's not the same, not many Greek or Roman ruins, but the island was so different and kind of off the grid for U.S. tourists. It has world class wineries and food and scenery and people. As an example, when we rented our car, the attendant gave us her personal cell number in case we had any problem. It's all in what you're looking for- Sicily is much more vibrant, Sardinia is where many of my Italian Associates vacation in August, and much slower.
