Sardinia

Hello,

I'm in Italy and thinking of going to Sardinia by Ferry. Does anyone have a recommendation for which ferry to take/what port in Sardinia to go to. I'm interested in a relaxing and not terribly expenisive beach area. Specific hotel/B&B recommendations appreciated.

Thank you!

There's a regular ferry route from Naples to Palermo.

Thank for your reply. If I'm not mistaken Palermo is in Sicily?

You can take the ferry from Genoa, or also Piombino near Livorno or Civitavecchia near Rome. They all go to Olbia on Sardegna's east coast. The less expensive areas are in Southern Sardegna, avoid the North where footballers and Berlusconi descend in summer, along with crowds of people. Remember that Sardegna is very popular, especially in August so book ahead with the ferry and with the hotel, especially if you are bringing a car. I hope you have a good time, apparently with the white sand and crystal water it looks like a tropical island.

I forgot to add that the big ferry company here is called Moby. Check out their website for timetables and prices.
