Sardinia and Corsica

My boyfriend and I are spending a week in Caglieri where I have a meeting, but then want to spend a couple of days driving around Sardinia and Corsica, staying in Corsica for a night. Does anyone have recommendations about a "Rick Steves type" place to stay in southern Corsica (inexpensive, local)? How about things to do in both Sardinia and Corsica?

Can't talk about Corsica, but have heard lots of great things. Maybe Jo will pop up and discass that with you. What time of year are you going? Get a rental car and do some exploring of Sardinia. Take a GPS and a good Michelin map....you will need the map. Cagliari is a good base to see some of the south and SW coasts. We used the Lonely Planet guidebook to plan some of our day trips. My wife is a beach fan so part of our time we were sunning ourselves on the beaches outside of town. Do some reading about the Isolo di San Pietro and Sant Antioco. Drive up the West coast, and explore the Oristano area. We also stayed a nite in Alghero, and enjoyed it. It deserves more time. Drive out to the Capo Caccia and explore the Grotto Di Nettuno. Some of the Nurghe ruins are facinating; pick one and visit. For three nites we stayed at a wonderful Agritourisimo (Stazzi La China) in the Northern hills and did day trips exploring the North and NE coast. The home made dinners here were to die for.

We are going in mid-June. Many thanks for your suggestions! I'm getting the Lonely Planet guidebook. I wish Rick Steves would do a book on Sardinia and Corsica.
