Has anyone attended mass at Santa Maria Novella in Florence? I arrive by train from a day trip to Venice at 9:30 pm on Saturday April 15. They're having Easter service at 10 pm. I'd like to attend but will I get a seat if I get there a little after 9:30? I can't stand for long periods. What door do I enter for mass or will it be obvious because of all of the people? If these are stupid questions, I apologize.
I have never attended Easter Mass at SMN. Although I know the church well because in high school each one of us had to do research on one church in Florence and give a tour to the rest of the class, and my assignment happened to be that church. Nevertheless I am sure you will find some nice soul that will be willing to give up their seat for you, if you politely explain your situation.
Thanks, Roberto!
It is a long time I do not attend Mass at SMN, but it is unlikely that they run out of places: the residents in the parish territory are less than 1000 persons, to the point that till a couple of years ago the parish was at risk of being suppressed and moved to the nearby S. Lucia sul Prato, a tiny church but with much more residents. If you do not find place at SMN, I will be playing organ at S. Lucia (but our Mass will be later, likely at 11pm).
Grazie mille, Lachera.
Thank you for your question - it helps us as well.
We will be in Florence at that time as well. I looked at the website, but perhaps missed where the 2017 Easter mass schedule is located - all I see is their regular schedule with special notations for Holy Days. Can you help point me to the correct way to find this information for 2017?
Thank you!
I was unable to find that information also, so I actually wrote an email to them asking for the information. They got back to me about a week later.
