I have found very little information on the town and beaches of Santa Maria di Castellabate....just south of Salerno. Has anyone been and is it worth the trip from Amalfi?

I've never been, :( but there's a great movie set in Castellabate called "Benvenuti al Sud". It looks like a charming town, and mentions the near by beaches.

A popular holiday area for Italians and other Europeans but quieter outside the peak in July/August. Have investigated it as a holiday destination for us but decided that at the times we usually travel to Italy it would too quiet for us.
