Sant'Antimo Abbey

I'm wrapping up the final details of my trip before heading to Italy in two weeks. We will be staying in Pienza and the Abbey is certainly on our list of places to visit. The abbey's website was recently updated and shows the time of their vespers. It now lists the hours for visits to the church as 10:15 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. It also indicates that the Church is open from 6:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. I had read in several places that you should go when the monks are chanting. But now reading the website, it makes it sound as if the hours to visit the Church are limited to the above. Can someone who has been help clarify? Is it is possible to enter the churchs and hear the monks during their vespers. Thank you in advance.

Well, I believe there are "visits to the church" and "visits to worship";

Visits to the church are for tourists who want to see what the church is all about...from 1015 to 1230 and 1500-1830;

Those choosing to take part in worship activities are welcome to "join in" from 600-2100.

I was there about 2 years ago, caught the second half of morning mass. Beautiful place, and wonderful spirit.
