Sandal Factory and Muro Factory,

I am going on the 17-day Tour Italy in September 2023.
I have never been to Italy or Europe.
I would like to tour a sandal and Muro factories.

How would I go about doing this?
Would I arrange with the Tour Guide?
Any input would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Do you know where these factories are located? Are these locations anywhere near the tour stops? Will you be there when the tour provides you free/unguided time? You need to do your homework now to determine who/what/when/where/how? The Rick Steves guide may be able to advise you with transportation options or give you recommendations but leaving it to the last minute may not be advisable. What if they are closed on the day you want to visit? What if they require advanced reservations?

Hi DM,

Which cities in Italy are you planning to visit on your 17-day trip? That can help us better to locate factories near there. I would suggest a guided tour.

I would like to tour a sandal and Muro factories.

Did you mean a glass-blowing factory in Murano (during your stay in Venice)?

SECOND EDIT: I see from the OP's previous post on 10/21/19 (pretty sure that trip was COVID cancelled) that it is a glass factory she wants to visit. Given that, I'm sure she meant Murano.

I've never heard of a custom shoe maker who could or would make a pair from scratch while you wait. And these are usually artisinal shops, not factories. But Florence abounds with shoe (and other leather goods) stores where you can find ready made Italian sandals.

Apparently, on one of your other threads someone found a shop in Rome that would assemble custom sandals from pre made component parts.
