Sanctuary B&B Suore Oblate Convent Florence

I want to stay here but wonder if it would be too far from sites and train station. Another choice is Hotel Il Bargellino. Looks like the location is better but I love the idea of the convent.

If it's the convent on Borgo Pinti (#15 Borgo Pinto, or something near that; oblate sisters of the assumption, I think), I stayed there last Sept for a week and am returning next month. The location worked well... about 3 blocks from the duomo, maybe 5 blocks from San Marco/Accademia and Santa Croce (in opposite directions). I took a taxi from SMN station when I arrived (so I didn't have to deal with my luggage), but walked from the station to the convent other times. The sisters were very nice. No/little English spoken, but the sisters were patient, and my lack of language wasn't a problem. There's a nice garden (but in Sept, I was glad to have some mosquito repellant wipes) and the chapel is available. Breakfast was simple, but fine. There's an elevator, and I think air conditioning (although I didn't need it). And I'm paying 45E/night, which is great for that area. I like to travel by myself and stay in convents/monasteries whenever possible... universally, they have been very clean, safe, quiet, and a great deal.

I agree with Sherry. I stay in convents/monasteries in some large cities, they are reliably clean and quiet, usually inexpensive compared to hotels, and often have the feeling of an oasis of peace in a tourist-packed city. The curfew (usually 11pm or so) is reasonable, but most places do lock the door at a specific time.
