I want to spend a month in San Remo. I will not have a car. I have never been there and I have no idea what area of the town would be best to plant myself. Can anyone help?

I've never been to San Remo and know nothing about the town, but if you plan to take a bunch of day trips by train, I'd try to find a place not terribly far from the station.
