San Marino - How do we get there?

We are going to be in Italy for our third time in October, November. We want to visit our favorite spots and see places we haven't been. We will be in Ravenna without a car, (we love the trains), but can't figure out a way to get there without spending an arm and a leg to rent a car for the day, hire a driver, or find a transporter (beam me up)! I looked at all the old forums on San Marino but can't find any info or answers. Can anyone help? Thanks in advance, Virginia

Take the local train to Rimini. Buy the bus ticket to San Marino from the Tobacco store across the street from the train station (Next to a Burger King, if it was still there.) The bus station is about 50 yards from the store at the same street.

Both the train and the bus rides take about an hour.

If you want to go by train and bus it is possible but makes for a long day.

The train from Ravenna to Rimini is only once per day, every day, at 6:15 and takes only half an hour. I haven't perused the bus yet.

You need to really like San Marino and Rimini because there is only one train back, every day. It is at 21:29 (9:29pm) and takes a few minutes longer...

A car may be a better idea

Nigel, there are 18 direct trains from Ravenna to Rimini and 18 trains from Rimini to Ravenna, every day. At 6:15 AM leaves the only Frecciabianca, that takes 35 minutes. On the way back it stops at Rimimi at 21:29

The trip is less than a couple of hours each way (train to Rimini plus bus to San Marino), very easy and inexpensive (less than 10€ each way all inclusive).
There are a ton of direct (no change) regional trains from Ravenna to Rimini, basically one or two every hour.
