San Marco Basilica Tickets July 2025

Hello everyone,

Have you ever purchased tickets to the San Marco Basilica before? I have tried to purchase tickets to skip the line, and it appears that they have already sold out for July 2025. The website is not the most user friendly, as it does not let us know if the day has been sold out or not. Perhaps I did not book enough in advance. Side note : I'm able to get 2 tickets for tomorrow in my cart and there is several time slots options as well, but all the other dates are blacked out (little clickable circle around the dates for June), yet I can click them without having any possibility regarding time slots. July, August and September are not even showing these circles as if the tickets are not yet available ? Am I doing something wrong ?

Have any of you ever tried purchasing tickets the day of? How was your experience? Did you have to wait in line for a long time? All other blogs and travel guides I have read tell me that the lines can be daunting. I am an early bird, so I would go as early as I possibly can. Do you know when I can start lining up for tickets purchases for same-day visits? I've also read somewhere that there is a QR code at the end of the queue so you can buy tickets directly on your phone for a dame-day visit, would that be an option ?

Is there another way to get tickets ? And is it a really big loss if we aren't able to see it ?
Thank you!

We visited in early May, and I tried to get tickets in late March. The website had none available. I had to go to a third party (Viator, Get Your Guide, etc.) and pay more for the skip-the-line tickets. The instructions to meet the GYG staff were accurate, but downloading their app was frustrating. BTW, it seems that skip-the-line ticketing for both the Doge's Palace and St. Mark's was a bit misleading. You will be in a line, perhaps a much shorter one, but you will be waiting.

We decided to go with the third party as I doubt we will be back to Venice. We are glad we went, but it was more of a tick-off-the-list sort of visit. Venice was SOOOO crowded and I didn't think the piazza was all that interesting. While there were cafes surrounding it, the buildings looked quite the same and sterile. I suppose my exposure to many other European sites has jaded me. There are many other lovelier town squares in Europe.
