We will be in Italy during November and would like to visit Padre Pio's Shrine when we leave Assisi and drive to Naples. Does anyone have suggestions for other points of interest to see while in San Giovanni Rotundo? We will have a car and would like any info on this stop.

Unclear what your time frame is but Vieste on the 'spur' is a stop on an RS tour.
When we were there, (Pdre Pio Shrine), we did not have time to explore the area so have no 1st hand knowledge of the area on the Gargano Peninsula .
Vieste and Peschici are both well worth visiting if you have the time.
Thanks joe32F. We thought we would just stop enroute to Naples and see the Shrine. Probably mid day for a couple of hours. Time to see the new and old churches.???

2 hours will give you time to see the churches and explore the grounds a bit.
Are you driving Assisi to Naples with the stop for Padre Pio, all as a one day trip? If so you will have very limited time for other sightseeing

We will hopefully get to see the church where Padre Pio's remains are and Padre Pio's cell.
Anyone know of distance to St. Michael's cave(grotto)? I know it is in a different town.
Will be searching for driving directions and parking info.
