San Giorgio Maggiore Tower

Hi!

I am visiting Venice in July and would love to visit the church and do the bell tower on San Giorgio Maggiore.
I was wondering if anyone knew of how to buy tickets ahead of time online... or if I can only buy tickets once I am there?

Thank you !

no need to book ahead, just show up and enjoy

believe you also need to ensure you have an extra vaporetto ticket, as i'm not sure they sell them on the island

Captain Obvious is correct - on both counts...

but I expect if you wander around on vaporetto you will have a multi day or single day pass - cheaper than tickets at 8€ a pop.

and you'll be sure to check in with the machine before you go on the dock each time to avoid a large fine... even if it is a pass it has to be validated each and every time.

I don't recall any advance ticket sales for San Giorgio Maggiore, but there was a line waiting for the elevator after I got my ticket. It wasn't a very long wait, but it was very crowded on top. This was pre-Covid, things may have calmed down and maybe they're using some kind of timed entry now. But this website doesn't indicate that.

I visited San Giorgio Maggiore 10 years ago and we were the only ones there. A line at the tower? I blame it all on Rick Steves.

Thank you everyone! Speaking of the islands in the lagoon I wanted to know if I should book anything ahead of time on Torcello like the cathedral? or just show up again? Thanks for your advice!

On Torcello, there is no need to book anything in advance.
The climb up the campanile is really worth doing. Outside, it looks like a brick box. Inside is arch upon arch upon arch.
Costs about five euro.
