I will be staying in a villa for a week in June 2022 outside of San Gimignano. I have been to this region twice before so have been to some of the usual tourist destinations. I am looking for suggestions for a few really great day trips or experiences. Transportation is not an issue. Any suggestions for a recommended day of vineyards, under the radar towns or fun experiences?

Volterra, Certaldo, Monteriggioni, and Colle di Val d'Elsa are worth a visit in that area.

In 2019 our host (near Montepulciano) recommended a winery to us, and made an appointment for us so that we could visit it on the day we left, before driving to Siena. Uccelliera winery. It was a wonderful experience. Wow, Some great information here! Thank you for the attached map guide Mont3589. It looks like a great day trip with interesting stops. And Jeff, I am amazed at your trip report, very detailed and with some great information. What and fantastic trip! I have added your suggestions to my list. It is so much fun to research suggestions of other travelers, planning is half of the fun.
