We are a family of three, all adults, visiting Sicily this summer. We are considering 6 nights on one of the islands and have narrowed it down to Salina or Ustica. However, we are open to any suggestions. We like to hike, swim, cook and enjoy the views. I don't think our daughter would want to be completely isolated from civilization, yet we wouldn't want to stay within a center with late night clubs. Any and all advice is greatly welcomed.

I haven't been to either island. If you don't have much time elsewhere in Sicily (which is worth over 2 weeks even before you start in on the islands), I'd prefer the location of Ustica. It has ferry service to Palermo, which is a very interesting city. If any of you get itchy feet, you'll be able to visit Palermo. I imagine Salina's main ferry connection is to Messina, which is not nearly as interesting (understatement).
