Planning for Salina, mid October. We are not swimmers, but we do want to hike. What kind of weather can we expect, and is it possible to bus or bicycle here and there around the island? Any suggestions for a good base?

I haven't been to the Aeolian Islands and didn't immediately find the sort of detailed weather statistics I like to have. But timeanddate.com has data for Reggio Calabria, which may be OK for your purposes (though I'd sort of expect the island to be windier). Timeanddate has actual, historical, day-by-day weather data. I've given you a link for October 2020, but you should definitely check several additional years since weather can vary a lot.
