Salerno to Ugento

Hi. My husband and I will be leaving Salerno to make our way to Ugento to be with our friends in their new house May 18. We would like to get there as quickly as possible so wondering the best way to do it.

We could make go to Naples in the morning and it looks like we could take a series of trains from there to Brindisi and then hire a car for the last leg.

Should we go to Lecce or Brindisi? Is it reasonable to do this in a day if we can get Frecce trains? Thanks so much!

Just thought of another question for when we are in Rome….the Colisseum, is there a better time to go? We plan to buy skip the line tickets and a guide

Lecce is closer to Ugento than Brindisi. But if you plan to eventually rent a car anyhow once you get to Lecce(or Brindisi) why don’t you rent it from the get go in Salerno and drive? I know it’s at least 4.5 hours (plus pit stops), but it’s all on a 4 lane freeway, so just as easy as driving in Oregon from Portland to Medford.

Do as Roberto suggested. The fastest public transportation, combo of bus/train,
takes 7hr44min.
