Salerno: Santa Maria de Lama

Has anyone visited the Church of Santa Maria de Lama in Salerno? I been trying to research the whether we should visit, and when it is open. Thanks for any assistance. We will be visiting in the next 2 weeks.

I haven't been to that church. I've had some issues pinning down visiting hours in less-prominent Italian (and other) churches. If at all possible, I recommend walking by the church early in your stay to check the visiting hours posted near the door. They will usually be there. I've encountered cases when the posted hours were different from what I found online in the cases when I could actually find some hours online.

In the absence of information, I'd say morning is a safer time to visit than afternoon, though there are no guarantees. There's often an extended period of closure in the middle of the day, and some churches don't reopen after closing for lunch.

If you go to Google Maps and click on the church, Google displays what it thinks the hours are: only on Sunday from 10 AM till 1 PM. Those hours may not be correct; I've often seen incorrect hours served up by Google, but they suggest your visiting options may be quite limited.

According to the site it is currently only open Sunday from 10am-1pm
"Touring volunteers welcome you on Sunday from 10am to 1pm"
and the other days say "can be visited upon reservation" but whether just anyone can ask for an appointment, I don't know.

This appears to be the listed contact if you wanted to reach out: [email protected] or [email protected]

I'm currently in Sorrento but I don't know if that makes information gathering any more possible if it's closed 6 days a week.

No promises, but if I go by there I'll share what I find out,
