Salerno Hotel/VRBO Suggestions

Hello,
With the help of you we've decided to make Salerno our home base for the AC.
4 nights.

We will spend one of the full days on a full day boat excursion stopping at various AC towns, another day up to Pompeii and another day either hitting the beach or visiting towns in the area.

Now, where to stay? I did do a search but didn't find much that was recent. Any places you loved or would avoid?

Appreciated as always.

If you would like a unique experience vs. a regular hotel, my adult daughter and I stayed at the Casa Santangelo Suites in the old center of Salerno. Check out the photos & reviews on Booking.com. I reserved a 2-bedroom suite for us since it was towards the end of our trip, and I thought we’d like a little extra room. I had the room with the lovely gold decorated walls, and hers was green.

It’s an 18th century palazzo, so you’re staying in a place with history, plus the owners were very nice. Excellent restaurants nearby, and we walked over to the train station to take a day trip over to Paestum.

We stayed here two nights and also at the town of Amalfi for three nights. We took the handy ferry to get around the Amalfi Coast.

I’m staying in Salerno for 10 nights in March. I’ve booked B&B Palazzo dei Velieri, as below, with booking.com. The reviews are favorable and it seems to be conveniently located.

We stayed here this November.

Right in the heart of things. It was very nice.
Do note about the third bedroom only being accessible through the second bedroom. We had sisters sharing those rooms so wasn't a problem for us, but ymmv.

Mentioned by my colleague ChristineH, Hotel Plaza is directly across the street from the Salerno Centrale train/bus station and would be a great base for you. Close to the ferry dock, a short walk to the Old Town and all that contains. Plus at ~100 Euro/night, such a value. And that includes an Italian continental breakfast with meats, cheeses, pastries and cappuccino made to order. Place is probably 50 years old, maybe the rooms are a tad small but but clean and charming.
