Does Salerno have good train access. I'm interested in spending time there but would like to have train access.
Yes. Train station is good access.

If you’re interested, there’s also ferries that run from Salerno. We just stayed in Salerno a few days ago. We came by train from Florence, and a few days later took the ferry over to Amalfi for three nights. We enjoyed our time in Salerno!
We also took the 30-minute train from Salerno over to Paestum. Don’t miss the Greek ruins in fantastic shape! Very easy walk directly from the Paestum train station.
Keep in mind that the ancient site of Pompeii is not directly next to any of the three train stations that serve the modern city of Pompeii. It's a hike or a cab ride. FYI, Salerno to Sorrento (which you didn't mention) requires two busses with a change in Amalfi (town), or a train to Naples and another train to Sorrento, but no one does that. There are at least two ferry schedules in that area, high season and low season.
