Salerno and Naples Lodging Recommendations

We're going to be in Salerno the end of October - probably 6 nights or so and in Naples for a couple of nights after that.

In Salerno looking for a hotel or a BnB in the older section but not too far from the train station since there will be a bunch of day trips from there. Nothing too fancy is needed but some charm is always appreciated.

I've only ever been through Naples not stayed there so probably a refuge hotel close enough to transit to get around the city and to and from the train station since we'll be coming in and out that way.

Thanks!

In Naples I stayed in In Centro B&B and liked it. I walked everywhere except the train station but there’s a metro station 2 blocks away and the Capodimonte Museum that I took the bus. The only negative is that the breakfast is one of those vouchers to go to a nearby cafe.

We loved out stay at Napoli Bonita. Just steps away from the Toledo metro stop.

My fav B&B closed in Salerno, but I know very well the location of the Salerno Centro, and its kind of perfect. You are just at the edge of the Centro Storico, but still in the larger Corso shopping area, which means probably only a 10 min or so walk from the train station, whereas the ones located IN the Centro Storico would prove to be 15-20 min walk (and where you would more likely want to use buses to get to the station instead of the long walk), NOT my fav, especially since I roll my suitcase to my lodging from the train :) You have easy access to both pleasant strolling streets!

we liked Hotel Piazza Bellini in Naples for our 1-night stay. it's an easy walk to the Archeological Museum, and it was a 10-minute walk to our chosen restaurant in the evening. we were there on a Sunday night, which limited our access to pizza, sadly, but our main focus was the museum, ahead of our trip the next day to Pompeii.
our suite was pretty comfortable, and the breakfast was lovely, with excellent coffee and a nice outdoor seating area. if we visit Naples again in the future, we would definitely stay in this hotel

Ain't that the truth--hi Katherine!

Yes, Salerno is almost worth the trip if only for the passeggiata--the late afternoon strolling by locals and their families up and down the main corso. Tourists or no tourists, they do this, calling to their friends and neighbors, maybe setting a date for an aperatif before dinner. I'll remember it always and fondly.

HAHA Hi Jay!

The "wandering"/"strolling" in Salerno is GREAT....and you have Via Mercanti, the Corso, and then the WONDERFUL Lungomare along the water to join the locals in the enjoyment!
