Hello everyone, Im new in the forum and I'm searching for advices on a trip in Sicily. Has anyone experienced Sicily on a sailing holiday? I would really love to do that! and Im thinking about going solo...
Looking forward to your comments!!

Hi Bob. My husband has rented sailboats in a number of places around the world, mostly in the Caribbean and Florida. Sometimes I've accompanied him, and sometimes other people have. We've not rented one in Sicily, but I've been there a number of times. I just "googled" sailboat charters in Sicily and a lot of websites appeared. That being said, I do not know of ANY boat charterer who will rent to a solo sailor. My husband has a Captains License, and he needs at least one additional qualified person on board. As I'm sure you can understand, the owner of the rental boat may not feel very secure with just one person on board.
I'd suggest you do a google search like I did and see what you come up with. There were many options, and you need to make sure you meet the qualifications to rent the boat and find at least one other person to accompany you. There are also charters offered that include a Captain, and this may be an option, depending on your budget. Wit more people, the divided price will be lots cheaper and will probably be a more fun vacation.
I will tell you that Sicily and the waters surrounding her are spectacularly beautiful! I can no longer sail, due to a back injury, but if it were 10 years ago, I'd definitely do this!
Hello Donna, thank you so much for the interest!
I didn't mean that I want to sail solo, not al all... Certantly I want a crew or a skipper and since I'm alone I would like to book a cabin, not the whole boat. I was looking for some advice about a cabin charter .. I have no clue which company to trust... any suggestions? I find pleanty of things if I do a google research and I get confused because its a totally new sobject for me and most of the results shows how to rent the whole boat
