We are scheduled for a 10 pm (start time) night tour of Rome, but have to get ourselves to the start point and then post-tour (about 1 a.m.) get ourselves back to our hotel. We are on the Oct "MyWay" RS trip. We are a bit concerned navigating our way so very late at night, but interested in others' experiences and plans that may help us in deciding if this can work for us, safely. Is it safe to take the night tour that is so very late in Rome? Perhaps we should be seeking another night tour option that (are there any) does hotel pick up and drop offs?
Any thoughts will be greatly appreciated.
Where exactly does the tour start and end?
Where is your hotel?
Need that info to help yoj
Rome iis pretty safe actually and very much alive at night
Staying at the Dharma Style Hotel in Rome. Tour meet up is at Via di Villa Ruffo and drop off is at Piazza di Spagna. Each location is about 13 minutes "drive" from our hotel.
Thanks for being part of my quest for guidance!
Is there some reason why you could'nt take a taxi?
CJean, just not sure if safe to wait on a street corner at 1 a.m. awaiting a taxi or Uber, as well, the cost per person is substantial.
No Uber in Rome
Taxis cannot be flagged down
You must find a taxi at a taxi stand
Pretty sure there is one at Piazza di Spagna
Taxi shouldn’t be more than 10 euros for that distance
Taxi ranks in Rome

Have your hotel call a taxi to take you to start of tour
Use the app to get home
I imagine there will be other walking tour members doing the same
There are a couple taxi apps you can use
Search this forum for the names
We cancelled the 10 pm (golf cart) tour. Found another one we were able to book for 8 pm with a multitude of pick up/drop points. Great advice - to have our hotel help us with getting a taxi to our pick up point. Just finding one that is more of a "real" vehicle and is an 8 pm start-time of tour - makes everything seem more do-able.
Thank you everyone for your comments and suggestions. All so very helpful.
There is a taxi stand at the southern end of Piazza Di Spagna. Follow Piazza di Spagna street south to the smaller adjoining piazza (Piazza Mignanelli) with the big column (Column of the Immaculate Conception/Colonna dell'Immacolata Concezione). The taxi stand (Stazione Taxi Piazza Mignanelli) is on the far side of the column.
(Oops. looks like i'm too late but for anyone else needing a taxi in this area...)
And more thing.... Rome is a great city to walk at night when the monuments, fountains, etc are illuminated. We did a lot of walking after dark and never felt unsafe. There will be a lot of other folks out and about walking from late dinners, meetings with friends, etc.
The only issue I had while walking in Rome at night (albeit never anything like midnight or 1 AM) as a solo 70+ female was that sidewalks are sometimes in rough shape, and if the illumination isn't great (sometimes the case), it's hard to see the irregular surface. A lot of Italian social life takes place outside the home, so there will be many more people out and about than you are probably expecting.
Not sure who posted a question to me - about how/where I found a tour that late (start time was 10 pm) at night....it is entitled "Nocturnal Rome Golf Cart/E-Calessino Tour". The golf cart looks quite substantial, and the reviews were just consistently awesome about the two different persons who lead the small tours at night. The only option available for us on the date we could go, was the 10 pm and it may work well for others - good luck if you choose this option - enjoy. I found the reservation/cancellation ended up going through Trip Advisor, but I am happy to report that Trip Advisor was easy-peasy to cancel when we found an earlier time with another company.
In the future try to book with the actual tour provider
TripAdvisor doesn’t operate any tours -they are a third party reseller
Not sure what type of vehicle you have now booked but be aware that a lot of Rome and specifically the historic center is completely pedestrianized so your vehicle won’t be getting too close to the sights
