safe transpo from Fiumicino Airport to Rome hotel for single woman

My daughter needs a safe mode of transpo from Fiumicino Airport to her hotel in Rome. After flying 14 hours, she would prefer not to have to navigate the train system since it would be her first time solo. Any reputable companies that she can reserve ahead of time? Thank you in advance for your help.

Tell her to go to the taxi stand in fron of the terminal and take a regular taxi just as she would do in America at a taxi stand of any American airport. There is a city imposed flat taxi fare of €48 from the airport to the city center. Couldn't be any easier.

ski,

The train system is quite easy to use, but she'll have to decide whether cost or convenience is most important. If cost is no object, use the Taxi at €48 as Roberto suggested. You may find it helpful to have a look at this website......

If she'd prefer not to spend that much, she can buy a ticket for the Leonardo Express to Roma Termini (€14, 32 minutes). Depending on which part of Rome her hotel is located, she may have to take a Taxi from Termini, but that will be quicker and cheaper than from the airport. However, one important caveat to mention - she MUST be sure to validate her ticket prior to boarding the train, or she'll be subject to hefty fines which will be collected on the spot! The same is true when riding Buses or Metro in Rome (and elsewhere in Italy).

I do not know if Rome Cabs will make a good price for a single person. I had arranged for our group of 7 and then missed my plane due to weather so they did send a car for me at 50 Euro. If the train is 14 and a taxi 12 it might be worth it. Having been traveling for two days I was so grateful to see my name and just follow him as he toted my bag to the Mercedes right to my door. So worth it.

The Leonardo Express from the airport is straightforward. Follow the signs in the airport, buy a ticket from the kiosk at the station and get on the train (no stops). In Rome, get off the train and walk in the direction the train traveled to the front of the station, where the official cab stand is. (There is a cab stand on the side, closer to train, but there are also unlicensed cabs nearby which can be confusing.)

I can recommend Claudio from www.Neorental.it or info@neorental.it He was recommended by the lady who taught our cooking class in Rome. He was professional and courteous with a very nice and clean car. He was waiting for us outside the baggage claim with an Ipad with our name on it. Cost for 2 people was 40 euros. For a single person who does not want to search for a taxi or get on public transport this is an easier option. 2 couples in our cooking class also used Claudio and they were pleased as well.

We just returned from Italy. We booked Rome Chauffeur for 55 euros to our apartment in Trastavere. The driver met us in the airport (with our name on a sign) and helped us with baggage. The ride from FCO was nice and easy in a Mercedes van.

We have used Romecabs.com twice for transfers to/from FCO & were very pleased with their reliability & service. I would not hesitate to use them again even if I were traveling alone. We reserved them ahead of time and they were very easy to deal with.

Do you know where her hotel is? That can influence the taxi pricing.

If it's in the historic center, there's no simpler option than what Roberto suggests. Go to the taxi queue in front of her terminal and take the first official taxi in line. No need to reserve anything or try to meet up with a specific driver or company. And tell her to ignore anyone who approaches her saying "Taxi?" Those are not official taxis and they can really jack you around with pricing scams. 48 euros is all she'll have to pay. (I can't remember if Rome taxis take credit cards or not, so that might make a difference if she's not arriving with euros in pocket.)

Is the 48 euro price for just one person? We are a party of 3 and that would be cheaper than the train/taxi.

It's 48 euros total, regardless of 1 or 3 persons. There is an additional charge for extra luggage beyond one suitcase in the trunk per person, I believe.

Be sure to take only an official taxi waiting in the taxi queue.
