We want to drive Agripoli to Pisticci via Castelmezzano/Pietraposa and walk around or hike, but I'm concerned about luggage in car. Does anyone know of guarded parking lots or access to hotel with car where we could ask them to store luggage for a fee for a couple hours?
There may be a tourist office, but then you have the hassle of lugging your stuff out of your trunk and a major disappointment if they are closed.
I would honestly just risk it. Take anything vital with you. You can look for a parking space where you can back up against a wall or park somewhere conspicuous.
These are tiny villages so it's not like it's Pisa (where I would never do this). I am thinking of putting a sign on my suitcase when i do this on my next trip--saying "solo vestiti sporchi!"
and don't mess around with the luggage in the car park - do all the rearranging before you arrive.
Follow all the usual precautions - everything out of sight in the boot except what you will take with you for your walk around, all valuables and documents and essentials with you. I agree with the others, this is not a high risk place. We did it:

Thanks for the replies. I didn't think I would be able to park close to a hotel, so I guess we have to wing it with the luggage with precautions.
Different but related, if we chose one town Castemezzano or Pietraposa, what are pros and cons or better choice?
