We need a safe clean hotel near the Naples airport for overnight stay before heading home on our 20th day. Have no real desire to go into city but will if we have to. Preferably with shuttle. 3 star is fine. Coming from Amalfi coast. Its our 6th trip and Rick is our bible. Thanks in advance for any advice.

I would stay in the city center, near Chiaia or Piazza del Plebiscito.
The city center of Naples qualifies as being near the airport. I can't think of a major city in the world that has the airport as close to the city center as Naples does, not even San Diego or Boston.
It's less than 3 miles from the city center to the airport terminal. If you leave early in the morning when there is no traffic, any taxi can take you there in 10 minutes.

That's too bad, as it's a gem. Not for everyone (sounds like you have made up your mind already), but very interesting. Lots of sites to see.
