After a lifetime of dreaming I am planning a trip to Nicastro (southern) Italy where my Grandfather was born - probably in Sept. or Oct. The Hotel Savant is one hotel I have seen mentioned. Has anyone had a good experience with any others? Does anyone have any tips as to where to go to look up birth , marriage and death records? Would it be helpful to hire a guide or translator to do that. We do not speak Italian.
