Ryanair vs ITA

Hi!

We're going to be visiting Rome and Puglia for our honeymoon in October. For the way to Puglia we'll be taking a train from Rome to Monopoli but on the trip back we don't have as much as time so I figured we would need to fly back from Bari to the Rome airport. Any info or thoughts on Ryanair vis ITA? The flight is only an hour but I've pretty terrible things about airlines recently.

Thanks!

Rebecca

It's four hours by train from Bari to Rome. Are you sure flying will be faster?

I flew ITA from Los Angeles to Rome back in November - no issues. FCO is their home base, so they have extensive infrastructure there.

Are you flying out soon after arrival, or staying in Rome for a while? If staying on in Rome, the train may be more efficient.

Are you trying to get from Bari to Rome on the day of you flight home? That would be a risky thing to do.

If all you are doing is going from Bari to Rome, the train from Bari to Rome looks to be just a bit over 4 hrs. Not sure how flying will save any ( meaningful amount of) time on a hotel to hotel trip.

As for the airlines just be sure to read all the fine print and account for all the added fees and use the cheaper. Its a 70 minute flight; not a whole lot to screw up.

Once you add the time to transfer between city and the airport, the time for check in, security, boarding, deplaning, etc. I think the train from Bari Centrale to Rome (about 4 hours) is just as fast as the flight.
