Ryanair for short flights

I have a trip coming up in Italy and it appears to only airline that meets schedules for a 1 Hr. and 15 minute flight is Ryanair.

How bad would it be to fly them for a short flight based on reviews claim it is the worst airline.

I have flown Ryanair a number of times, each was efficient, on time, and at a good cost. Ryanair gets some people worked up because they see a low fare like $10, book it, read none of the requirements, and wind up paying for oversize bags, not printing your own boarding pass, etc. You go cheap and try to get away with something, you get caught and have to pay.

But first...what types of flights are you looking at? From where to where?

We flew RyanAir from Spain to Italy a few years ago and it was fine. But we read the fine print and knew what we were getting. It also worked out well since I broke my kneecap in Spain and it was a no brainer to buy another cheap seat to spread out across.

Thanks for the quick reply's.

Looking at flights from either Florence or Pisa to Palermo Sicily. We know we will need to pay for our luggage for both me and my wife along with maybe medium back packs as carry on. As most would agree, direct flights seem to be best and I think we just need to book something and deal with any challenges we may face.

I lived in the UK for five years and often used Ryanair to travel within Europe. As others have said, read and follow their guidelines and check the actual arrival and departure airports. Pay to check bags if you can not meet their carry on requirements which are strict. Seats do not recline. There are sales pitches for different items while in flight. Often arrive/depart from far gates and board by stairs to the front and back doors of the aircraft, in rain, snow or sunshine. Some flights land at more remote airports. I have no problem flying with them and often when bought early their airfares could not be beat. I would certainly be willing to take or consider Ryanair if it goes where you need to go.
