Has any one here a recommendation for an under €100 a night hotel/B&B/albergo/pensione in the general area of the lakes Maggiore and Como? We are hoping to stop off in the area on our Grand Tour to visit a couple of specific gardens and because we have our car we won't want necessarily to stop in a busy town like Varenna.

Hi: We are staying at a place called nest on the lake..on commo lake..communication with them has been excellent and it is under 100 euros..good luck. marilynne

We have stayed at the Hotel Eden in Stresa on Lake Maggiore. We have also stayed at a restored monastery in Cannobio on Lake Maggiore...let me know if you would like the addresses. I can't remember the name of the Cannobio hotel at the present time but have the card at home.
