RS Sicily Tour - Physical Demands

Signed up for RS tour early May. We are experienced with RS tours but see this one has a high activity rating. Should I take hiking boots? Walking stick? How many days involve more than 3 hours up and down hills? Appreciate any preparation advice from anyone who has taken this tour.

I found trekking poles useful, there were a number of ancient sites with uneven footing. I generally wear low "hikers" on all tours, not sure others would feel that was necessary. You can read the daily itinerary on the tour page, I don't recall how long any particular day's walks lasted. The tour was active, yes.

It's an active tour in a couple of respects. Lots of hilly areas there, so if you have a walking stick it may come in handy. I don't know that I'd have enjoyed my hiking boots there, but that's a personal comfort decision. Lots of uneven terrain, but there wasn't that much actual hiking when we did the trip. The pace of your tour guide will also determine how active your tour is in some areas.

Sicily is beautiful! Enjoy!!!

Thanks for advice on activity levels in Sicily. I walk 3-4 miles a day but on level ground. So I've started a foothills conditioning program to build stamina for up and down hill trekking. I have high quality tennis shoes and also hiking boots which are heavy and a bit clunky.
