I am planning a trip to Italy in May 2012. We will be there for 15 days and were thinking of using RS 22 day itinerary with some alterations. We are planning to remove the days in the Dolomites, and either Lake Como or Amalfi Coast. Our original thought was to remove Amalfi because I think it is easier to return to on a separate occasion (i.e. I get emails with Amalfi deals all the time). Any thoughts on which to remove, Lake Como or Amalfi coast?

Elizabeth, It's been awhile since I last looked at the RS 22-day Itinerary, but given the short time frame my choice would be to remove the Amalfi Coast. Lake Como will be easier to fit it. Happy travels!

Another factor is that an organized tour eliminates a lot of the time lost using transportation, finding hotels, checking in and out, etc., so you need to allow more time for that function when traveling by yourself.
