RS Europe through the back door

I just picked it up, yesterday. I gotta say, I'm a bit intimidated. I'm feeling a little over-whelmed about where to start. I thought I knew.
But now, well, I just don't.

"It is large and has sooo much data." Unlike the Internet? :-) Frankly, if you're going to be traveling only to Italy, you don't need the ETBD book. Just buy the Italy guidebook.

Haha, Micheal, :-P LOL. That is why I came to this forum. And, I was told by more than 3 people to start with this "through the back door" guide. I think I'm going to exchange it. There is just too much that I do not need. I'm getting up in age and want to visit Italy once. If I go to Paris or someplace else, I will not need Rick's back door help because I will probably just stay in one city. Italy is where I want to see the entire country.
Thank you for you input.

Start with page 1, page 2, page 3 ........ You might explain what is intimidating to you.

The guidebook. I thought I made that clear.
It is large and has sooo much data.

Good decision. All the info in ETBD that applies to Italy is in the Italy book. Buon viaggio!

Joyce, Europe Through The Back Door is more of a "how to" book to read prior to trips. It covers a lot of details that perhaps aren't as well covered in the country-specific books such as Itinerary planning, packing, money, etc. If you don't feel that the material is relevant for your situation, then you could certainly exchange it. Cheers!
