RS Audio Tours

We are going to stop in Pompeii on our way back to Rome but not really wanting a tour guide. Are the RS audio downloads easy enough to follow along to? Do they direct you where to go?

We used the printed tour in Rick’s book, with the very useful map inside. A nearby Russian tour guide was speaking so loud to her huge group, that us being able to hear the audio announcements would’ve been difficult. Maybe you’d never run into such a loud speaker or huge group, and we waited for them to move on to get a bit out of earshot from them, but this was on a New Years Day, when it wasn’t all that crowded and they were open only limited hours. Make the most of your time and energy and use Rick’s written Pompeii tour. Boy, are the plaster casts of victims shocking!

Back in Rome, Rick’s audio tour was perfect in the serene Sistine Chapel.

Most of Rick's audio tours include spoken "turn here" directions and he's tried to time them so you don't have to start and stop the audio too often. Download the audio and map for free as a stand-alone MP3 file or install the similarly free Audio Europe app and use that to choose and store the downloads, preferably while you're at home with access to a good internet connection.

And make sure you take a pair of wired earphones. If you are using an audio guide in a museum, they always have an earphone jack but rarely work wirelessly.
