We will be in the CT for 4 days and plan to rent a car in LaSpezia and then drive to our next destination, which is Bagni di Lucca. Do you have any advice on whether we drive down the highway to visit the Carrara marble mines, go along the coast, then to Lucca, and then head north to Bagni di Lucca OR drive from LaSpezia to Aulla and down through the mountains that direction? I realize some depends simply on what we want to see, but I'm wondering if others have traveled these routes by car and what they were like. Thanks!
