Route advice needed: Colosseum and 2 churches

Hi all. WOOOOHOOOOOO...after hitting refresh about 7,542 times I scored tickets for the arena floor admission to the Colosseum. But it completely changed some scheduling and I need some advice.

11:45am: admission to Colosseum including arena floor (through coop and not through a tour group).

I want to take us to 2 churches that are in opposite directions:
1. Basilica di Santo Stefano Rotondo al Celio (which is 'south' of the Colosseum - open 3:30 to 6:30pm) and
2. Basilica di Basilica di San Pietro in Vincoli (which is 'north' of the Colosseum. (open 3 to 7pm)

AND after we thought we'd walk the Monti neighborhood and find dinner.

Here are the limiters: The people who are going to the Colosseum (my sister, brother-in-law and my husband - I've been too many times so not going ...going to do something else and meet them after) 2 of them get back REALLY late the night before from a trip to Pompeii so we are grateful that the tickets I scored are 11:45am - in other words, not doing either of the churches prior.

  1. How long do you think they'll be in the Colosseum for this schedule?
  2. Should we then walk south and do Basilica di San Pietro in Vincoli and see the Moses with Horns (this was my request - I saw it briefly once before and really want to see it again). then
  3. North to Santo Stefano and then
  4. right into the Monti neighborhood near the restaurants and shops?

or do I have this tangled in the wrong direction?

I KNOW someone here will have a great clear-headed view of how to handle this. Many thanks. We're a mere 3 weeks away from leaving and I am so excited.

Bean you'd walk NORTH of the Colosseum to this church.

North to Santo Stefano and then...

You'd walk SOUTH of the Colosseum to this church.

So I'm a bit confused! :O).

Any way you shake it, unless you can START with Stefano - which if the furthest south of the 3 sites you wish to see - you would be backtracking. Regardless of your traveling companions' previous late night, I'd try to do that one in the morning, and work your way north to the Colosseum, then Basilica di San Pietro in Vincoli...which is in Monti so you'd end where you wanted to be for dinner.

More exactly what time do your companions get in from Pompeii the night before? Even if it's midnight - and I'm. not seeing any Trenitalia or Italo "fast" trains getting in later than 11:30 PM, unless i'm missing something - they should be able to make S.Stefano by 9:30 AM or so without being too bleary eyed? I'm am assuming they would hit the rack as soon as they got back.
