Two senior travelers looking get to Bari on Monday Sept 7, 2026 from Venice & then return to Venice on Sunday September 13, 2026.
Trains seem to be on the regional/slower routes which would make for a long trip. We haven't seen much in the way of direct Airline flights between Bari, Italy and Venice.
Suggestions would be very welcome!
There’s a direct train from Venezia SL at 6:52am that takes 7.5 hours. It’s a fast train; I wouldn’t consider taking anything slow. Otherwise, if you’re going later in the morning, you are making a connection at Bologna, and that’s a multilevel station - not my favorite but doable. I just prefer knowing I’m not missing the second train when that’s a major distance to cover.
I love the Puglia area - going soon for the third time, but if I had to take one full day to get there and another full day to get back to Venice just for 5 days in the Puglia region, I wouldn’t do it. There’s plenty of amazing cities within an hour or two max from Venice that essentially give you an extra two days to be out enjoying Italy.
