Round Trip Nyc to Roma or Multi-CityNYC to Venice, Roma to NY for 17 days Best IT

I booked the Rich Steve's Best of Italy in 17 Days Tour. I am checking flights. Round trips to Roma is $200 less then Multi-city New york to Venice and Rome to New York. The Train fare from Roma to Venice is around $100. Is it worth to do Round trip Roma to save around $100? Not sure if there is any train station in the Airport in Roma?

Please advise.

thanks,
Alison

Best plan is to arrive in Venice a few days before tour starts.

If you fly to Rome you would take the Leonardo Express (14 euros- about 30 min) to Termini to catch fast train to Venice ( 4 hours)
Best not to book that train in advance in case of delays
There are several trains every hour, just book when you arrive

JMO but I would not fly to Rome if I wanted to be in Venice
The overnight flight is bad enough without adding another 5 hours to that travel day

Hi Allison, you will love that tour! My husband & I did it in 2006, and I can’t think of a better intro to Italy!

Yes, fly into Venice a few days before your tour begins. Some of the popular options for those days are to stay in Verona, Padova, or on the Venetian islands (don’t stay in Venice Mestre). If your tour is during the busy opera season in Verona, the hotel prices will be more expensive; otherwise, it’s a very nice beginning city. Hotel Bologna is very close to the Roman Arena in Verona or pick anything in that general area.

Is $100 difference worth wasting a few hours of precious vacation time having to backtrack back to Rome? That's a decision only you can make.

Yes there is a train station at FCO.
