Room in Venice - May 19, 20

All of Rick's recommendations seem to be booked up. It is a weekend and we are planning last minute. Any suggestions for rooms?
I saw one extremely basic for $80 suggested by B&B Sandra (who did not have a vacancy) - in the same area - concerned if it is safe or not.

Try booking.com. You can easily narrow down your search by area, price, etc. and you can read what past guests have to say about each place. Or you can try staying someplace nearby (which could be a lot cheaper) and taking the train in to explore during the day.

Also, all of Venice is safe, if we're talking about the island. Not sure about Mestre (which often advertises itself as being Venice) and other areas on the mainland.

Thank you everyone for your suggestions. I did find one place from Rick Steve's Venice that still had a room available - Locanda Querini. Ironically, booking.com showed it as sold out but the hotel web site showed availability. There was one more available Locanda Art Deco also but a bit more expensive. All others from Rick's book and a few others I found from the help pages did not have availability for both Saturday and Sunday. I did not have a lot of time to keep emailing or filling out availability requests. Of course, for next time, I know to prepare a bit earlier. I just want to wake up early and go for a stroll and mainland will not work for that!
So I am at peace with this choice - Locanda Casa Querini.
