Room in Varenna

Without know which property is "no longer open" and which of "Rick's suggestions" you've contacted, it's difficult to offer suggestions. Can you elaborate?

Yes. We loved Olivedo. Have sent requests to Albergo Milano, Eremo Gaudio and Albergo del Sol in Varenna.

We stayed at the Casa Rossa which is part of Abergo Milano. I highly recommend it.

Thanks for the additional information. I'm surprised to hear that Hotel Olivedo is fully booked in April. Does that include their apartments as well? I wonder if that's perhaps a bit too early in the season for them?

Thank you both. Olivedo is not closed down! Waiting to hear back from them along with a couple of others. And the three additional properties are beautiful leads I can use. Just looking at Como is a delight. Joan

Some hotels only have minimal staff working during the off season, so replies might take a bit longer.

I stayed at the Royal Victoria and splurged for a lake front room. Worth every penny. Just sitting on my balcony enjoying the view was wonderful. Sitting on the hotel's lakefront terrace with a spritz was almost as wonderful.

A RS tour group arrived the day before I left.

Recommend Hotel du Lac. On the shore. Some rooms have private balconies. The absolute BEST breakfast buffet we had on our 2 week Italian vacation.

We enjoyed Albergo Milano and would stay there again any time.
