Rome ZTL Fascia Verde HELP

Dear travelers. I am looking forward to rent a Car in Rome to travel thru Italy in October 2025. I am not familiar with Electric neither Manual transmission cars. I reserved Citroen C3 Gas/Petrol, Citroen C3, Automatic at a good rate even with Insurance from a Global Car rental company. but later I read about this new Ban on Petrol/Diesel started in November 2024 until October 31 2025. Honestly I am not sure if this car falls into this BAN (Diviete Permanenti). The Romamobilita.it website is not clear to me even if translated it to English. But here is what it says literally in the English translation:

Permanent bans from November 2024, from Monday to Saturday (24 hours a day), excluding weekday public holidays, the following CANNOT access, circulate or park in the Green Zone (Resolution 371/2022 and Ordinance 122/2024)
Motor vehicles (including resident's)
- petrol, LPG and methaphene Pre-Euro 1, Euro 1 and Euro 2
-diesel, Dual fuel and mixed fuel Pre-Euro 1, Euro 1, Euro 2 and Euro 3

I would not be driving in Rome other than go to the Hotel and the Termini Station where I plan to rent the car due to the good price compare to the Airport.

Does anyone have this problem driving into Rome with a Petrol Car ? I am not sure why the Car rental companies still list many Petrol Cars inside Rome if there is a new BAN in place ? Any feedback is appreciated, thanks. Jose.

Euro 1, 2, 3 and following are EU regulations about admissible polluting levels in vehicles. Each step is more restrictive; at present we are at Euro 6 regulation since 2015, about mid-2025 Euro 7 will be enforced on new cars.

As Euro 3 was issued in 2001, in order for a car to be Euro 2 it must be registered before that time, so it must be at least 25 years old. It is unlikely for a rental company to rent so old a car.

Petrol cars do not have many problems with environmental regulations; but many municipalities are increasingly restrictive about diesel vehicles. For example Firenze forbids Euro 5 diesels (so those older than 2015), but only in central areas and at peak times. Again, rental cars are rarely so old.

as above. Unless you rent a clunker from Bill and Ted's Farm Trucks and Antique Cars & Rentals or some such that restriction will have no bearing on you.

What will are ZTLs, IDPs, bus lanes and speed cameras and speed averaging cameras.

Even my 2016 diesel Civic meets the Euro 6 level. Smaller number = worse, higher number = better
