Travelling with my kids for the first time to Italy. Going to be in Rome over Easter - Thursday through Tuesday. Aside from the main things to see (Vatican, old Rome (colosseum/ etc) are there any unsual/quirkier things / places to go that you'd recommend doing with children? They are 13, 10, 9. I know dragging them to museums may get boring for them after awhile. Thanks in advance......
Maybe this? Only open on weekends.

Or this? I'm taking my 8 and 9 year olds here in April.
We took ours a couple years ago. They enjoyed walking the Appian Way and going to the catacombs. We also went out to Parco Aqueducto to see aqueducts. But they could also run around a bit in the grass, was a good break from the hustle and bustle of the city for my small town kids. My kids also enjoy going to street markets. They like searching for things like coins that are unusual or different kinds of candy they are not used to. Gives them a chance to interact with the locals too.
Do you have there "Mission Rome" book? The reviews on Amazon are classic, and it made the kids more interested:

We also rented Segway's in Borghese park for a bit after seeing the museum. Cheesy, but the kids loved it
And there's always Gelato bribery: Fatamorgana was the best and has a few locations
We have the Mission Rome book too! Looks like it'll be fun on our trip.
My kids thoroughly enjoyed this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Capuchin_Crypt
They found it appropriately creepy, but you may decide it's too much for the younger kids. It's a small place so won't take longer than 20-30 minutes, if that.
My kids also liked Ostia Antica -- a short ride out of Rome.
Enjoy your trip!
