Rome wifi hotspots and HP netbook

Would I be able to use a HP netbook in Rome at hotspots without a cell phone?

alison,

You'll only need Wi-Fi access to use a Netbook in Europe. As the previous post indicated, some hotspots are free, and with others there's a small charge. Some Hotels are now providing Wi-Fi for guests, but a password may be required.

Using a Cell phone for internet access is about the worst possible option, as the data roaming charges can be horrendous. Will you be travelling with a Cell phone also?

Don't forget to check the Charger for your Netbook to ensure it's designed for operation on 220 VAC electrical systems. Of course, you'll need appropriate Plug Adapters (Euro style used in Rome has two round pins - check magellans.com for excellent description of these - as I recall, their cost is US$2.85 each. I'd suggest taking two Plug Adapters, just in case one gets "misplaced".

Happy travels!

Alison, there is quite a few restaurants and cafes that offer free Wi-Fi in Rome if you buy something.
